Closet Perverts: Society Menance

Shanti (name changed) is a 15 year old housemaid in one of the very renowned society in Bangalore. Her parents have so many children that they cannot afford education. Financial burden forces her to get employed in multiple households. Working in an up market apartment society ensures decent pay and in most cases assures respectable behavior from the employers. But what lay in store for Shanti was unfortunate. She was employed by a DINK (Double Income No Kid) couple and whenever the wife was away the husband took full advantage of the young maid. He forced her to watch adult movies along with him. He often took of his clothes and spoke vulgarly to this young girl. At the end of each day he paid her Rs 50 and asked her to keep mum. The girl was terrified but could not confess to her parents in fear of losing her job. When she started showing signs of depression and phobia, with much intervention the incident came to light. When Shanti’s parents confronted the couple the matter worsened, his wife refused to believe the maid and the husband to cover up this incident lodged a false theft complaint against the girl. Shanti is a victim of menace caused by a closet pervert.

A closet pervert is superficially normal to the world but deep down will hide his immoral or pervert tendencies. Subconsciously the person is aware that the sort of hidden acts are shameful. Such people can be from any walk of our society. They may be around our homes, colleges or in offices (just about anywhere). But we have to learn to avoid getting victimized by them.

Most of these people are cowards.  When such a situation arises be brave and just raise an alarm at the spot and yell several times. This always does the trick. If you have a passive body language in such a situation it will only encourage the person, keep a strong body language that can be pretty uninviting. If you don't feel you are in physical danger, adopt a strong voice and posture and tell them to go away.

Any more strategies are welcome! Please give in your thoughts of dealing with these people.
