Day. Why deplete nature? Wake up and
play your part. Let’s celebrate Environment day everyday by doing simplest things.
Let’s protect and preserve our planet. Some of the things we can practice in
our daily lives, small steps for a better greener world.
1)
Minimize usage of electricity at home
- Turn off the lights when you leave a room
- Switch off the TV, computer, laptop, air conditioner, DVD players when not in use as stand by modes also consume energy
- Switch to LEDs which consume lesser power
Try using solar lighting or heating wherever
possible
- Switch of refrigerators for an hour every day and open the doors for short durations
- Cool food before putting into the refrigerator
- Beore putting hot foods into the refrigerator, cool them to room temperature
- Heat only as much food needed in the microwave
- Get water heaters that consume less electricity
- Use one large light bulb instead of a few small ones. One 100-watt light bulb uses less energy and gives off more light than two 60-watt bulbs.

Minimize usage of electricity at offices
- Set optimal temperatures while using air conditioners at office
- Set the computer on sleep mode
- Switch off the lights when workplace not in use.
- People working on low floors use steps instead of the elevator
- Switch off the PC when leaving from work
- Take bath from water in a bucket or take short showers.
- Do not shave or brush with the tap on.
- Run washing machines and dishwashers with full load.
- Fix leaky taps.
- Reuse water (water plants or swab floors) with water that drains out from RO water filters.
- Try to walk to near by places instead of using a bike or car
- Use cycles or any other environment friendly vehicles.
- Car pool
- Service vehicles to keep them efficient and pollution free
- Use cloth bag while shopping
- Print on both sides of paper
- Reuse packaging material
- Read e books and e papers
- Segregate biodegradable wastes at home and use as compost
- Recycle cans, newspapers, bottles etc
